Why you should have Steve Thornton photography your wedding. Steve is a full time photographer, not a weekend part time photographer. He is primarily an advertising fashion & beauty photographer who travels on average 150 days a year on assignments. He recently allowed a friend convince him to shoot his wedding and Steve had a blast. For that reason he is now shooting weddings. Having 20+ years advertising photographic experience he is used to solving photographic problems quickly. Because he realizes how very important make up, hair styling & wardrobe is, he also brings to your wedding his makeup artist/hairstylist and his wardrobe stylist, who will get you, and your wedding party looking their best. His crew remains until after the wedding for the formal photographs, that all brides want, to make sure everyone still looks great and the clothes are in proper position. This attention to detail is one of the reasons his photographs have a finished look about them. Another reason to use him is Steve's understanding of Photoshop. His digital photographic lab in California can handle most retouching requests. If you ask for something beyond their skill level Steve can do the retouching if you wish. Knowing what can be done in Photoshop allows Steve to shoot an image that most photographers will not attempt due to a lack of retouching knowledge. For examples of what retouching can bring to an image go to the "Rollover" section. Rollovers are 2 or more versions of the same photograph. By rolling your mouse over the image you can see the before image. These show what can be done retouching wise as well as manipulation wise to any image. Another reason to use Steve is he only shoots in "RAW" mode and never in "JPEG" mode. What does this mean to you? In a word, "Quality." In JPEG mode the photographer can get many more photographs on a flash card and allows the camera to "Process" the images while shooting. This means the images are finished at the end of your wedding and the photographer only has to burn a CD & they are finished. The advantages are all to the photographer and none to you. Because JPEG compression throws away image information randomly you loose quality. Because the camera "Processes" the image you loose the ability to make large adjustments in contrast, saturation, color temperature and black set point. This coupled with the limitation of 8 bit color depth, shooting in JPEG adds up to loss of quality at every turn. By shooting in RAW mode only, Steve gets 100% of everything that the camera captured. He can then, after the event, make adjustments to the rendering of every file helping to produce high quality images. The result to you are stunning color, saturation, contrast and color balance that one can only achieve by proper post production work. The work load is very high & the storage room needed is massive by comparison to JPEG, but the quality makes it worth the effort and as an advertising photographer, Steve is all about image quality. |
